THREE new neighbourhood wardens could be posted to the streets of Pendle in a bid to reduce crime.
Pendle Borough Council is planning to post two new wardens to cover Southfield and Marsden and appoint another to oversee the work of all town centre wardens.
Wardens were introduced to the streets of Nelson last month and they patrol the streets liaising with regular police officers.
The plans for the new wardens are set to be discussed at a meeting of the council's executive committee on Thursday.
They will be funded by money from the Single Regeneration Budget.
Street wardens are part of a new Home Office strategy to reduce crime.
A council spokesman said: "The enhancements to the wardens system will help to tackle deprivation, focusing particularly on the national 'floor' targets of education, worklessness, crime, health and housing."
