WHALLEY couple Agnes and William Johnstone celebrated their diamond wedding with a trip down memory lane.
The couple, of Manor Field, retraced their steps to the Lake District where they married 60 years ago.
The trip with son Thomas and daughter-in-law Christine was topped off with a meal at a hotel in Ulverston where the couple met on war service.
Agnes, 80, was born into a farming family in the Lake District, while William, 81, was the son of a Blackburn window cleaner.
Agnes fell for William's "cheeky smile," then promptly won him over with her cooking!
They lived in Wensley Road, Blackburn and Woodcock Hill, Pleasington until retirement.
William worked in the tool room at electronics firm Philips and the couple had a dairy round in the Infirmary area of Blackburn for 22 years until retirement.
