Radcliffe Borough 4 Abbey Hey 1 - RADCLIFFE progressed through to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win over Abbey Hey.
Simon Kay put Boro ahead on 62 minutes, but Abbey scored a surprise eqauliser.
Eamonn Elliott immediately scored a penalty, and Jody Banim managed a late brace as the visitors tired.
How Radcliffe didnt score earlier than their 62 minute opener from Simon Kay is open to debate. First half chances went begging one after the other. Jody Banim firing high and wide from the penalty spot on 25 minutes typified the first half performance from Radcliffe. Further efforts from Whealing and Lunt brought saves out of Higginbottom as the teams went into the break on level terms.
Abbey shocked Radcliffe on 75 minutes with a superb free kick which defied home keeper Hurst to bring the visitors level. Abbey Hey no doubt still celebrating the equalizer when the referee pointed to the spot for Radcliffes second penalty of the game, just 15 seconds after the restart. Radcliffe sealed the win in the final ten minutes, two goals from Jody Banim putting some gloss onto the score line as the visitors tired during the latter stages.
