ROSSENDALE residents have been helping with a regeneration project in Edenfield.
Groundwork Rossendale and the Rossendale Rivers Initiative have been gaining ideas from local residents on how to improve a riverside walk in Dearden Clough.
Improved access, facilities for children, educational interactive features and new signs are just some of the ideas already put forward.
Questionnaires sent to households have been helping develop a concept design which has been used to attract funding for the project.
The scheme is due to get off the ground by March next year.
A spokesman for Groundwork said: "The idea is to improve water quality so that all rivers, streams and canals are clean enough to support fish.
"And the aim is to stimulate the development of attractive waterside environments, for businesses, housing, heritage, recreation and wildlife."
The ultimate aim of the initiative is to focus attention on the rivers within the borough of Rossendale and involve the community in local efforts to regenerate the river through litter clearances, waterside events and activities.
