BLACKBURN midfielder David Thompson today said he's prepared to forgive and forget after Danny Tiatto's 'nasty' lunge left him nursing an injury at Maine Road on Sunday.
Tiatto publicly apologised for the two-footed challenge which resulted in him being sent off during the 2-2 draw.
The tackle left stud marks right down Thompson's leg and he was forced to limp out of the game after his knee flared up as a possible result of the incident.
However, a scan yesterday showed there is no lasting damage and the 23-year-old now has an outside chance of making tomorrow's UEFA Cup first round first leg clash with CSKA Sofia, although manager Graeme Souness will only risk him if it is absolutely necessary.
"It was a nasty tackle but these things happen in football every now and again," said Thompson, speaking exclusively to the Evening Telegraph.
"People do lose their heads and I've done it myself but I've never deliberately two-footed a person.
"If I've ever lost my head I've always tried to take the ball and the man. I'm not a dirty player or a nasty player by any means.
"I think he just lost his head a little bit. But I'm alright."
