A 33-year-old man has been charged with attempting to wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an alleged knife attack on a police officer.
Police have appealed for witnesses after an attack on PC David Taylor in Blackburn Road, Accrington, at 4pm yesterday.
Detective Inspector Peter Broome, of Accrington CID, said: "I believe there were a large number of members of the public present and we would like them to get in contact with us."
PC Taylor did not require hospital treatment.
Peter Michael Pearson, of no fixed abode, was due to appear before Hyndburn magistrates today.
