COLNE suffered their third NWCL Division Two defeat of the season against a classy Maine Road side.
John Lister's men struggled to contain the Manchester outfit and could have no complaints at the score-line.
"We were beaten by the better side," said Lister. "They zip the ball around well and are undoubtedly the best team we've played this season. They'll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, we just need get a run of good results together to make sure we're up there with them."
Colne fell behind in the ninth minute - Maine Road's Lee Todman converting from a corner kick - yet they hit back soon after through top scorer George Craddock.
Carl Barton and Craddock were both denied by the home side's keeper in one-on-one situations - misses that proved costly on 72 minutes as Keith Bridges latched
on to a quickly taken free kick to put Maine Road ahead.
As the game wore on Colne committed more and more men forward and were made to pay ten minutes from time when Todman bagged his second to seal the victory.
