THE Grosvenor Hotel, Heysham, will not become a listed building (common sense has prevailed) But the Midland Hotel is listed and I can't make any sense of that.
One is a splendid stone built hotel where the Midland is only Accrington brick, cement rendered with a flat roof.
After 50 years in the building trade I know I would not be saddled with either property.
Demolish both hotels and move on to better things.
We have to accept change.
Regarding the compulsory purchase of the Midland, I think the hotel should already be considered council property when you tot up that the rates owing amount to hundreds of thousands of pounds.
