FORGET being King or Queen of the Jungle - how about being King or Queen of the Corporation instead?

For one quick-thinking landlord has taken the success of ITV1's bush reality gameshow I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and is hoping to raise money for charity with a similar idea.

Jim Grainger, of the Corporation in Oxford Road, Burnley, has set up his own Bush Tucker Trial as seen on the hit show and is challenging pub regulars to take part in a series of ghastly games.

All the money raised will go to The Christie Hospital, Manchester, in memory of 18-year-old local John Villas, who died from leukaemia. The event on Sunday involves eating a series of taste-tingling ingredients.

Jim said: "We want as many people as possible to come down and have a laugh.

"There are eight contestants taking place in the gruesome challenge which should provide a lot of enjoyment, while raising money for a good cause.

"I have concocted a delightful menu for the contestants which I am sure they will all detest but will eat it because it's in aid of charity."

Jim will be cooking up a variety of eight testing treats including a live cricket dish, a maggot soup and a casserole of jellied eels. The contestants will have to eat whatever is unveiled.

Jim added: "It will be no easy task, but surprisingly we have had a lot of people interested who want to take part. I think when you bring charity in, all sense goes out of the window because people just want to do their bit to help.

"We are hoping to raise a good amount on the day because each contestant has been asked to gather a sponsorship fee of £10 each. We are also having karaoke later on for people to take part in."

The fun will kick off at 3pm.
