SIX members of the same family had to be evacuated when their chip shop caught fire on Saturday.
Fire crews praised the prompt action of the occupants, after the chip range at Jim's Chippy in Ladies Lane, Hindley, set alight at 5.30pm -- the start of Saturday's tea-time business.
A fire spokesman said: "They were very lucky. They found the fire early and rang us straight away so most of the damage was prevented by their quick actions."
