NEW CCTV cameras and floodlights aimed at improving safety and protecting vehicles in Stacksteads are due to be switched on by the end of the month.
The security measures at a car park opposite the Rose n Bowl in Newchurch Road pub include wrought iron railings, re-surfacing work, floodlights and cameras.
The project recieved funding from 'Secure by Design,' a charity which provides cash for security initiatives.
Ward Councillor Michael McShea said the new scheme would help make people feel more reassured.
He said: "Work is almost complete and the cameras and floodlights will be a welcome addition.
"They should be operational by the end of this month and I am sure they will help residents and people using the car park feel safer and vehicles parked in the car park will be more secure."
