AMBITIOUS Lyndsey Bailey is making a name for herself after winning a scholarship at London's Sylvia Young Theatre School.
The forward thinking 15-year-old, of Southdown Drive in Boothstown, only began dancing three years ago when she told her parents she wanted to become famous.
She joined Tyldesley's 180 Dance Club under Donna Wyatt, where she quickly learnt disco, freestyle, ballet, tap, ballroom and Latin dancing, and funded her costumes by working in Boothstown childrenswear shop Shuff's Corner at weekends.
This summer Walkden High pupil Lyndsey, who calls herself Linzi, impressed her parents by using her initiative to organise a week at the Sylvia Young Theatre School's summer school, even arranging accommodation with a family in London.
On the basis of her performance there she was invited to audition with hundreds of others for a full-time place at the prestigious school. Assessors said they took into account Lyndsey's lack of professional training when they offered the only remaining place.
Lyndsey has now moved to London and began living her dream on Monday.
Proud mum Janine said: "She has done all this herself because she is that determined to be famous. It is her dream come true."
