GREAT Harwood keeper Bobby Harris was the hero as the penalty kings made it through to the FA Cup second qualifying round.

John Hughes' side saw off Winterton Rangers in the extra preliminary round of the competition, winning 5-3 on penalties.

And his young side held their nerve again last night to seal a tie at UniBond Premier League high-fliers Harrogate Town, a huge game for the Showground club.

Harris saved two crucial spot kicks last night after Ryan Parr had missed one for Harwood but Glen Smith and James Coonan held their nerve in sudden death.

After a 1-1 draw at the Showground on Saturday, it was all-square again at Crook Town after normal and extra-time. John Eastham had opened the scoring for Harwood before Crook equalised through a dubious penalty just before half-time.

Harwood wasted a number of chances before it came to spot kicks.

However, they proved they are the spot kings and picked up £7,500 in the process - after winning £1,000 for getting through the early round.

"Bill Holden (the Chairman) was chuffed to bits. He was really proud of the lads and so was I. They are going to give me a heart attack though!" admitted the boss.
