BURNLEY Athletic Club will be holding an Open Field Night Meeting tonight at Barden Track, Burnley.
The meeting, for Senior and Veteran Athletes only, has no track events and will be held under floodlights starting at 7pm.
The events will be discus, long jump, high jump, shot and triple jump, and there is no pre-entry - just turn up to compete.
The Three Shires Fell Race incorporates the final round of the Junior English Fell Championships. It starts from the Three Shires Inn, Little Langdale, Cumbria.
Junior races start at 11.10am - 10 minutes after the senior race which covers 12 miles and 4,000 feet of ascent.
Pendle Forest Orienteers are holding their second meeting in the Autumn Series on Saturday. Venue is Towneley Park, Burnley. Complete novices are welcome, just get there at 10am for a bit of tuition. Starts are from 10.30am to 11.30am and there are white, yellow and score courses. For more details call Carole Pilling on 01282-618592.
The Lancashire Flyer Duathlon incorporates the Home Nations Team Championships this year. It takes place on Saturday at Pit Hey Place, West Pimbo, Skelmersdale.
Two 5K runs on tarmac paths sandwich a 32K bike ride on wide industrial estate roads on a flat multi lap course.
Start times are 12.30pm for Home Nations competitors, 2.30pm for Open Senior and Vet males to 59, and 4pm for Open Women and Veterans Over 60. For late availability call organiser Peter Knott. Peter is also looking for volunteers to man the course. Contact him on 01772-683072.
Sunday's Rossendale Fell Race is organised by photographer Steve Bateson. The course covers 12 miles and climbs 2,800 feet from the start at Marl Pits Sports Centre, Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall.
There are also Junior Races for Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 athletes. The action starts at 11.30am.
The Annual Ron Hill Birthday 4.3 mile Road Race will be held next Wednesday at 6.45pm. Race HQ is the Springhill Pub at Broad Lane, Rochdale - A671 Oldham Road. Proceeds are in aid of Springhill Hospice.
