A THINK-tank working on people saving money has come up with the stunning conclusion that the low paid and single parents don't.
Talk about stating the flipping obvious.
The government is trying to encourage people to store up some rainy day dosh and seems surprised that these two categories are not bothering.
Apart from not being able to afford to, people have enough nous to realise that if they do bother they won't get the benefits available to them they would if they had a stash.
So what's the point?
The only way to make people save is to stop the cushioning benefits, which end up giving those who have not looked to their future a better deal than those who have bothered to save a little.
People who have a bit of brass have to pay full council tax and rent, for glasses and teeth etc, which cost a fortune, while those who haven't get them free.
Who's the loony there then?
