LEIGH people have welcomed the newly announced multi million pounds development of the former BICC site - moreso because it is not being built on a green field site.

Now neighbours want to see some investment in their Rugby Road- Bonnywell Road estate, which some claim is, like many others, being ruined by idiots whose sole purpose in life seems to be making lives unbearable.

A resident, who will remain nameless, says the once proud and sought after estate is suffering from vandalism, rubbish, drunken fights and family rows.

The decent people who want a quiet life are in a Catch 22 situation - confront the yobs and face abuse, or worse, keep schtum and let them carry on, ignoring the distress it causes.

It's such a pity. That estate should be a great place to live with the amenities nearby - Pennington Park and the Flash country park, playing fields and now the new development - but sadly it isn't for many.

Once again this is a great example of how the bad behaviour of a few can make life a misery for the majority.

I have every sympathy, I can think of nothing worse than being made unhappy in my own home.

The only solution I can see is for those affected to get together and fight. Keep a diary or video acts of nuisance and forward it to the council, which has more powers than ever to act on nuisance neighbours, especially if there's proof.
