TENNIS starlet Elizabeth Ullathorne is one of the elite.

The 12-year-old Bury Grammar School pupil was crowned Lancashire Under-12s singles champion and also took the girls under-14s and mixed doubles titles following a tournament at the Bolton Arena recently. She also helped her school team win through to the regional round of the HSBC tennis tournament.

Elizabeth, who lives in Hawkshaw, is on the National Futures Programme as one of the top performance players for her age group in the country.

She has already represented Great Britain at a tournament in France, reaching the quarter-finals, and also competed in an international team event against Russia, Holland and Norway in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

A member of Hawkshaw Tennis Club, Elizabeth is coached by Lancashire senior champion Mark Schofield.

Tennis runs in the Ullathorne family as Elizabeth's older sister, Nicola, has also played at county level in the past.
