GRAEME Souness was today sweating on the fitness of Dwight Yorke after the striker joined a growing Ewood casualty list last night.

Yorke had to be substituted after just 12 minutes of Rovers' UEFA Cup first round first leg tie with CSKA Sofia after complaining of a twinge in his hamstring.

And the 30-year-old must now be rated as doubtful for Sunday's Premiership clash with Leeds at Ewood which leaves Souness desperately short of striking options with Andy Cole and Matt Jansen also currently nursing injuries.

"Losing Dwight after just 10 minutes was a real blow and we'll have to wait to see how he is," said Souness.

"He doesn't think he damaged it badly but he was feeling it so that's a major concern because it's the type of injury you can't afford to take risks with."

Yorke may now have a scan at some point in the next 24 hours to determine whether or not he has sustained a slight tear.

Meanwhile, Souness believes Neil Danns can look forward to a bright future in the game after the youngster impressed on his first team debut last night.

As we predicted in our later editions yesterday, Danns was given a surprise call-up for the tie against CSKA.

And his performance in midfield was one of the main pluses to come out of what was an otherwise disappointing night as far as Souness was concerned.

"Neil Danns is someone who has got a future simply because he's got such a fantastic attitude to the game," said Souness.

"I thought he did well but his real strength is his aggression, getting around the park, and getting in among people and it wasn't a typical English game for that.

"It was more a game for passing it and trying to create openings.

"But the best of Neil Danns is all in front of him."

Danns is a 19-year-old product of the youth Academy.
