STAFF at Preston College are recreating a popular survival television programme by leaving all luxuries behind while they camp out in the wilderness.
It will be a case of 'I'm a college worker get me out of here' for a team of eight who will be pitching their tents on Friday, September 27 in the Kielder Forest, Northumberland to take part in the Inter Company Keilder Challenge.
Nearly 100 companies from all over the world will join together and battle it out in team building activities designed to test their skills.
Unlike the celebrity contestants who recently stayed in the Australian outback, the college staff will have to carry their own sleeping bags, clothes and belongings.
They will be making their own shelter on Saturday night from natural resources in the forest and treats like chocolate will be in short supply while they plan out how to tackle the following days problems. The weekend is set in the 250,000 acres of forest and Preston College is the only further education institute taking part.
While many companies opted for an easy start by spending Friday night in a bed and breakfast before the gruelling tasks ahead, the Preston team are showing that they are made of stronger stuff.
There is even a chance that they will be on television, despite the fact they are not celebrities. The event is being filmed for the first time and more than ten television stations will be screening the challenge all over the world. So keep your eyes peeled.
