WANNABE pop stars read on, because your lucky break could be here!
For the first time ever, South Ribble Borough Council, in Leyland, is opening its doors to find the cream among local talent with a unique talent contest -- Search for a Star.
If you can sing like Elvis, move like Madonna or have the stage presence of Michael Jackson, this competition could be the platform you've been dreaming of to launch your music career.
The winner will also pick up £200 courtesy of BNFL, and have their story featured in The Citizen newspaper, which is backing this great competition.
Auditions for the 'Stars in Their Eyes' style talent contest, in aid of the Mayor's Charity Fund, take place on Wednesday, September 25, and people from South Ribble, Preston and Chorley are invited to take part. A judging panel will listen to all those who attend the auditions and decide which eight lucky performers make it through to the final on Friday, November 15.
People of any age can take part in the contest providing they can dress up and sing like a well known singer or group. Contestants can bring a backing track for use at the auditions.
South Ribble Mayor, councillor David Pownall, said: "There are a lot of gifted people out there and this will be a way of promoting amateur talent while raising money for the Mayor's Charity Fund. We're not looking for the next Gareth Gates or Will Young, but want plenty of talented people to come forward."
Only serious entrants should apply and need to call Lynda on 01772 625542 to arrange a suitable time for an audition in the Banqueting Suite, Civic Centre, West Paddock, Leyland.
