I AM sick and tired of hearing about single mothers and the lack of benefits they receive.
I am a single mum with two kids who went through a bad patch last year and claimed Income Support for five weeks. Claiming it made me feel so ashamed and it gave me just the push I needed.
I now have two jobs; I work as a classroom assistant weekdays and work at Asda at the weekend, when my children are at their dad's. I earn only £8 less than I received on benefit, but I don't care; I can now hold my head up high and know that I pay for everything I own.
So for all those women who do nothing all day and moan about how little money they get, I've got news for you: the world does not owe you a living, so get off your settee and get a job. There are no excuses!
LOUISE, (an independent woman).
