HUNDREDS of homes and businesses across East Lancashire will receive a test flood warning from the Environment Agency next week.
The warning will come from an Automatic Voice Messaging system which will send a phone message to the properties at potential risk.
On Wednesday, warning systems will be checked in Low Moor near Clitheroe and Ribchester.
On Thursday, tests will be carried out in the Waterfall area of Blackburn.
Calls will be made to test communication links and improve the existing flood warning methods.
Alex Cornish, from the agency, said: "Many people face a very real risk of flooding, and it's vital that they receive and understand the right warnings at the right time."
There are a number of flood warning codes that indicate the extent and danger of possible flooding.
Flood Watch -- Flooding possible.
Flood Warning -- Flooding of homes, businesses and main roads expected.
Severe Flood Warning -- Severe flooding expected. Imminent danger to life and property.
All Clear.
