TWO MPs have called for Lancashire County Council to be scrapped so Hyndburn, Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale could have an all-purpose local authority on the lines of Blackburn with Darwen.
Labour back benchers Greg Pope of Hyndburn and Janet Anderson of Rossendale and Darwen think there is a "compelling case" for a unitary council. Mr Pope has written supporting moves for a North West regional government.
