A YEAR ago John Mullin left Turf Moor for the second time keen to kick start his football career after a frustrating spell for the Clarets.
Now the midfielder is playing a big part in Rotherham's blistering start to the new campaign - all he wants is a goal!
"I have got four goals since I have been here but none this season," said the 27-year-old who was born in Bury and brought up in Burnley.
"I would like to get off the mark, and I am sure I will soon - I hope!
"I am happy with the way I am playing and that is the thing that is missing at the moment. I am due a goal or two."
The Millers are currently in the heady height of fifth in Division One after starting with a 6-0 hammering of Millwall and topping the table.
This was after a successful battle against relegation last time out and Mullin looks back on the year with a certain amount of pleasure.
"I've been here a year now and it has been really good," he said.
"Last year, we only got four points out of the first ten games. It was always difficult but we managed to stay up which was a big achievement as far as we were concerned.
"And this year we are building on it and so far it is going okay.
"I came here to try and do well. I got stuck in a rut at Burnley, I was in and out of the team so it was time to go.
"Rotherham gave me the opportunity to play in the First Division which was important as I didn't want to drop down a division.
"I think we have surprised a lot of people with our start but not ourselves.
"We are playing with confidence and a lot of players here now have more self belief.
"We have got a very honest squad here, there are players with a lot of ability who could play at bigger clubs.
"We just want to get Rotherham to a higher stage, to give the club a bit more prestige.
"But the club has come along way in a short space of time, with two successive promotions and things cannot happen overnight.
"But if we can do well this season it would take the club one step further.
"We'll just keep going and hopefully get more rewards."
Mullin was in his second spell at Turf Moor after coming through the ranks, moving into the Premiership with Sunderland where he scored a goal in a victory over Manchester United, returning to Burnley and then moving on.
"I would love to play in the Premiership and score against Manchester United again!" laughed the midfielder.
"I have just turned 27 and hopefully I have still got plenty of good years ahead.
"I have more to come and I will just do as well as I can.
"It was great at Sunderland playing in front of 40,000 people week in week out and it is a similar club to Burnley with a good fan base. At the end of the day though it is just 11 against 11 and you get on with it.
"It is different at Rotherham to Burnley and Sunderland, there isn't all the attention and you are obviously not in the limelight as much, there isn't the same press demands and things like that."
While Rotherham are going well, Mullin is a bit shocked that the Clarets are at the wrong end of the table - although he is confident their current revival will continue.
"I am a bit surprised that Burnley haven't started off too well but I am sure they will be okay. It is only early for everyone yet."
