PENDLE could produce the next Robert De Niro or Julia Roberts, thanks to a new theatre school which opened on Saturday. During the last 12 months, Janet Parkinson and Andrew Husband have run a series of theatre workshops in the Pendle area under the name Xcell Theatre Arts.
The pair decided to open a permanent theatre school after being given the go-ahead by councillors at Thursday's Colne & District Committee meeting, and on Saturday the first set of hopefuls filed through the doors.
The school will offer three one-hour classes in dance, singing and drama on Saturday mornings.
Janet, of Chapel Street, Nelson, said: "We are delighted to provide a base for young people to learn social skills and gain confidence. We will be doing all kinds of dance, including modern, jazz, ballet and theatre, for anyone from the age of seven upwards."
