In the July issue there was a letter from Mr Azam concerning how we call ourselves Muslims but do not live as Muslims should. I agreed with that point but not with some others he was making.
I'm writing this letter about something which really got to me - the sentence which mentioned us young women having no shame and respect for ourselves and our parents because of the way we dress.
I don't agree with that because every young woman is different. Just because some young women don't cover their heads doesn't mean they don't have respect for ourselves or our parents. From experience I've seen and know girls who do cover their heads yet still 'fool around'. They also fool their parents.
Also why shouldn't we be allowed to wear which ever clothes we wish as long we are covered.
The point I am trying to make is just look at young women for what they really are instead of what they are wearing. Don't judge people unless you know about their personality's and how they think.
I also wrote this letter becuase I was very upset - because as a sixteen year old - is this the way I am percieved?
I don't want Mr Azam to get upset and take this letter in a bad way because some of the points he mentioned I agreed with. Also as he seems older than me I respect him. Life is short and yes we should follow the right path but you should never give up trying to be a true Muslim.
