Three students have received awards for their outstanding performances and improvement on the National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
The students were invited back to Preston College earlier this year to receive
the awards at a ceremony held at Preston North End.
Riaz Patel was presented with an award for the Best Mechanical Engineering student, Kevin Mistry was awarded the Best Electrical student with Kainaz Lakdawala been presented with an award for Best Overall Student of the Year, the first girl to be given such an award.
Kainaz Lakdawala, a scholarship student from Gujarat, India had never studied Engineering before but was determined to try something new. She said the tutors were very supportive and gave her direction and help in all aspects of her work.
Kainaz received 13 distinctions and excelled in the Maths and Science subjects.
Riaz went onto study a BEng in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Manchester and after a very successful first year will soon commence his second year.
Kevin also went onto study a BEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and also looks forward to beginning his second year.
Lecturer in Engineering, Bill Edmondson said, "All three students worked incredibly hard whilst on the course and we felt they deserved recognition of that. We are very proud of them."
