BLACKBURN Rovers' two Academy sides are currently flying high at the top of their respective leagues after both enjoyed excellent victories over the two Sheffield clubs at the weekend.
Ian Miller's Under 17s extended their 100 per cent record to five straight wins following a 1-0 success at Sheffield Wednesday.
But the result of the day undoubtedly belonged to Rob Kelly's Under 19s who thumped Sheffield United 5-1 at Brockhall to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
Once again, Rovers had to come from behind after United - who were previously unbeaten themselves - took a first half lead.
However, three goals before the break, courtesy of Andy Bell (2) and John Fitzgerald, put the home side back in command.
And they wrapped up the points in style in the second half as Bell went on to complete his hat-trick before Ciaran Donnelly added the gloss to another five-star performance.
"It was a little bit like the Wolves game last week in that we started well, created a few chances, but then they hit us on the break and scored so we then had to show plenty of character to come back," said Kelly.
"But we took our goals well and it ended up being fairly comfortable in the end."
The Under 17s game turned out to be a much tighter affair even though it ended in a similar outcome.
Peter Corvino was again the hero grabbing the all-important goal midway through the first half to make it a win-double.
"Ian said they played very well," added Kelly.
"They did very well in the first half and got the goal but the play then became a bit disjointed after the break.
"It was still a great result, though, especially as the side contained a lot of schoolboys who tired a bit towards the end."
This weekend, the Under 19s are away at Manchester United while the Under 17s travel to Sunderland.
