ANDY Preece has welcomed the LDV Vans Trophy first round draw against neighbours Rochdale.
The tie, at Spotland on October 22, is another potential money-spinner after the dream Worthington Cup draw against Bolton Wanderers.
"It's probably as good a draw as we could have hoped for," said Preece.
"It's another local derby so it should attract a bigger crowd than these games normally get and put a bit more money in the pot."
The trophy is not held in the highest regard by many league managers, who annually devalue the competition by fielding weakened sides.
But Preece claimed there was no danger of Bury taking the fixture lightly.
"It's a good draw and should be a competitive game. It's only early in the competition but the closer you get to the final stages, the more exciting it gets," he said.
"Normally teams look to give a couple of new faces a run out in games like that but we know how important it will be to the fans so we don't want to get knocked out by resting too many."
