I HAVE been reading comments for some time about the "improvements" to Church Street in Blackburn, most of which I agree with, but have you seen the "improvements" in Bolton Road, Darwen?
We now have two bus stops sited by designated parking areas namely Maria Street and Watery Lane on the outward journey from the bus station. As a result, buses have very little chance of pulling into the kerb to allow passengers to alight. Therefore, they stop in the middle of the road, preventing following traffic from passing.
Also, we seem to have more than our fair share of the old type "clapped out" buses with the higher steps making even it more difficult for passengers with walking problems, or people with buggies to alight.
I wonder if the "genius" who decided where to place these stops has ever taken the trouble to see for themselves what the outcome has been.
J ELLISON (Miss), Cyprus Street, Darwen.
