DRINK, drugs and depression caused a Burnley man to hang himself.
Heroin addict Kevin Horne, 28, of Dane Street, took his own life in June this year.
An inquest into his death at Burnley Magistrates' Court yesterday heard shortly before his death Mr Home visited a friend in the early hours of June 13.
A statement from the friend read to the court said that she heard a knock at the door of her home and a voice saying it was Mr Home.
The woman told Mr Home she was going to sleep and did not answer the door. However at 2.30am she posted a letter through his letterbox and she heard his dog barking.
She then left to go back to her own home.
The woman knew Mr Home was depressed and was having problems with his girlfriend. She visited Mr Home's home later on during June 13, but there was no reply.
Again she heard the dog barking, so decided to enter the house. She found Mr Home with a leather belt around his neck hanging from the lounge door.
The woman lowered Mr Home to the floor the ran outside to get help. Mr Home was taken to hospital, but was already dead.
Toxicology reports showed he had taken morphine, methadone and was more than three times over the drink drive limit.
Acting East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor said: "It appears that he was very depressed.
"Kevin clearly had problems with drink and drugs and he took his own life."
