A GREAT Harwood man aged 78 died of a heart attack after being admitted to hospital in an emaciated condition.
Coroner Michael Singleton said doctors believed Amedeo D'Ippolito had not eaten or drunk for a week before he came in and they were concerned that there was evidence of self-neglect.
A number of tests were carried out prior to his death but these were inconclusive and an inquest had been opened so that the medical cause of death could be established.
Mr Singleton said the post mortem examination revealed that Mr D'Ippolito, of Edgeside, died of a heart attack and recorded a verdict of natural causes.
