A COUPLE celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a service of thanksgiving at the church where they were married.
Hilda and William Harold Kelly, of Baron Street, Darwen, have been parishioners at St Edward's and Sacred Heart Church, Blackburn Road, Darwen, since they wed.
After the thanksgiving service, the couple enjoyed a party at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, with around 30 friends.
William, 87, and Hilda, 80, met in 1930 when both worked at Anchor Mill, Darwen. They have a daughter, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A second daughter died 12 years ago.
Hilda said: "There is no secret to 60 years - we have had problems but got through."
