YOUNGSTERS got a taste of civic life when they were given an insight into a day in the life of the borough's mayor.
More than 20 pupils from Holy Saviour School, Nelson, spent the day with Pendle Mayor Pauline McCormick at the town hall in Nelson.
They were given a tour of the council chamber and mayor's parlour and learnt all about the history of the office and it's function. Teacher Patricia Bedford said: "It was a fascinating day and the children really enjoyed meeting the mayor and learning all about what she does."
