Leigh East 34, Oulton 4: LEIGH East moved up to third spot in the National Conference Premier Division after their convincing win over Oulton.
Oulton were a shadow of the side that finished second last year and East, brimming with confidence, tore them apart.
Both sides made handling mistakes but while Oulton became increasingly frustrated with themselves and East's outstanding defence, the home side had the skill to brush off the set-backs and clock up the points.
East also had man of the match Danny Kilshaw. Rapidly becoming one of the best half backs in the amateur game, Kilshaw scored two superb tries and four goals for a personal tally of 16 points.
There was a lot more to the game than Kilshaw, though. East's forwards were again outstanding with John Taylor leading the way defensively and David Ellison's powerful running a key element. Simon Warhurst was in top form at full-back and Woods and Redford both had major parts to play.
East had the game as good as won by half time when they led 18-0. Ellison opened the scoring in the sixth minute, Kilshaw goaled and eight minutes later stepped out of a tackle to score himself. He added the goal and a 21st minute penalty before combining with Redford and Ellison to send impressive U18s star Andrew Gregson in at the corner.
Ten minutes into the second half Molyneaux came off his wing to exchange passes with Gary Fletcher who raced 35 yards for the touchdown. Kilshaw goaled and then converted his own try soon afterwards.
Goodall scored a late unconverted try for Oulton before Gregson wrapped things up with his second.
East travel to Woolston on Saturday while the second team entertain Ashton.
