ATHERTON'S oldest swimmer joined the Mayor and Mayoress of Wigan in toasting the anniversary of a fellow centenarian -- the town's public baths.
"I've not been in the pool since before my 100th birthday in July -- but I haven't brought my cossie," replied Martha Hatton when asked if she'd be taking a celebratory dip.
Martha, of Car Bank Street, Atherton has been a regular at the Mayfield Street baths for many a year and was among the crowd who joined in the pool's official party headed by Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Geoff and Betty Roberts.
The community's contingent of elderly bathers joined in last Wednesday's fun and enjoyed free swimming sessions to mark the milestone.
