IN THE expensive folly, which is the new Scale Hall Lane junction, pedestrians have once again been sacrificed on the alter to the mighty motor car.
The pedestrian crossing traffic lights on Morecambe Road have been adjusted such that they only change when the lights on the junction have been triggered by traffic leaving Scale Hall Lane.
In late evening during the hours of darkness, when there is virtually no traffic leaving Scale Hall Lane, it is now impossible to cross a very busy road.
At night time this road is extremely dangerous to negotiate due not only to the volume of traffic, but also to the excessive speed of many of the vehicles approaching the junction from the city centre.
The majority of Scale Hall residents were originally in favour of controls on this junction, believing it would improve safety in the area.Once again, we should have known better!
