UNBEATEN in nine? Not any more.
This week's double header saw PNE win away at Derby in the televised match last Saturday, a fine performance against a side still suffering from the shock of relegation from the Premier League.
Ricardo Fuller was once again outstanding but all the side played well in what it is a smashing stadium.
The match was spoiled though by the card happy ref (one of only three living English referees to have officiated a World Cup final -- he ran the line at the France versus Brazil game), but the 2-0 win was great.
But then came the nightmare on Tuesday at Molyneux.
North End were overrun by a Wolves side who used the long ball game to great effect.
True PNE played some nice football in parts but couldn't put any real pressure on the Wolves' debutante keeper.
Not a good night for Craig Brown and the travelling fans.
On Saturday we have high flying Norwich City at Deepdale. This is a similar scenario to last season, playing the Canaries at home following two difficult away trips in the Midlands. Let's hope we get a similar performance and scoreline!
