THE pub landlord who called time on swearing is weathering the storm after an initial drop in trade.
Stuart Scholfield, licensee of the Welcome Arms, South Street, Bacup, hit the headlines when he introduced a soccer-style system of showing yellow and red cards to customers using foul language at the bar.
A red card meant a permanent ban from the pub.
Stuart said: "I barred three or four customers and trade dropped off for a while. But it is picking up a bit now and I have no regrets about taking a stand.
"Decent people don't want to hear customers who swear every other word."
Stuart has introduced country and western nights on Sundays and karaoke nights.
There will be an open night on Thursday with bitter and mild at £1 a pint. And his free buffet on Sunday lunch times is proving popular.
