IT seems there's one rule for them and another for us when it comes to getting a late drinks licence (Citizen, September 19).
What rubbish that the Guild Hall was refused a late licence for a charity event that probably raised hundreds of pounds for a worthy cause, St Catherine's Hospice. Co-organiser Steve Curry is right to be angry about not getting a licence when the yobs in Preston city centre at the weekend are allowed to booze and run riot until early hours.
PC Mike Riley's comment sums it up when talking about the Jamaican gathering on Saturday, attended by a 'Mr Big' from Lancashire Constabulary. "Because of the amount of high profile people going it's considered a special occasion," he says.
The words 'high profile' stick in my throat as a sickly reminder of British class divisions.
