SWIMMING champ Adrian Turner put top Ramsbottom Rascals through their paces at a special training clinic on Sunday.
For three hours the double Commonwealth Games ace from Prestwich showed 30 ten to 18-year-olds how to improve turns, starts and tips to boast stamina.
A question and answer session afterwards covered sport discipline, including diet.
Head Ramsbottom coach Rick Wesolowski said he was delighted at how the clinic had gone.
"Adrain made a big impact," he said.
"Now our swimmers know exactly what it takes to reach the pinnacle of international swimming".
The session proved just the tonic for the club's elite swimmers, who were bitterly disappointed to be pipped by local rivals Bury and Elton 47-46 in the final of the Central Lancs Age group competition.
Team manager John Taylor said: "All credit to Bury and Elton, I knew it would be close -- and it was".
Meanwhile in the North East Lancs Friendly League the Rascals powered to a 67-53 triumph over Skipton.
Talyor said: "We've already won the Nelf League and were therefore able to try out some of our up-and-coming swimmers. It worked to good effect with them picking up valuable experience."
