SINCE the opening of the M66 south-bound extension, that which became the M60 as part of the Manchester Orbital Motorway, I have become increasingly aware of destination signs which do not conform to those on other major motorways.
According to the Highway Code, on leaving the motorway the left hand lane will continue and the junction off it will be "announced" by count down markers. M60 Junction 23 (south-bound) has the "inclined arrow" but the left hand lane is subsequently dedicated to leaving the motorway. This contradicts information given half a mile previously.
Clear and accurate information is safer for everyone.
