This week, ANDY GILFORD exchanges clubs for coastal calm
CAPTAIN of the English blind golf team Andy Gilford, has happy memories of Arnside, on Morecambe Bay.
Andy, 30, who lives in Darwen, recalled family holidays on the coast when he was a child.
"It is so peaceful and quiet, with lovely walks.
"You can get away from it all," he said.
"Only mum in our family didn't have bad eyesight and she did the driving.
"We tended to do a lot of walking.
"There are some lovely countryside walks and a coastal road.
"It's also very good for dog-walking."
"I still go there sometimes, now and again.
"And it's only about half an hour's drive from Blackpool Illuminations."
Andy, who has peripheral vision, has a handicap of 12 and will captain the team for the current year.
As well as enjoying the tranquillity of Arnside, he has two favourite golf courses, Pleasington and Darwen.
