REGARDING the sign on Barbara Castle Way pointing to the 'Blackburn Centre Cultural Quarter,' I have asked a few people what they think it refers to and they haven't got a clue -- neither have I.
It is true that by turning left after it you can gain access to the museum, the library and Blackburn College. But if this is what the sign refers to, why make it so ambiguous and so pretentious?
Call me cynical, but I suspect that this sign is one of a number of 'embellishments' that Blackburn with Darwen Council are producing in an effort to promote their next bid for city status.
I wonder what the total cost was to Blackburn with Darwen Council taxpayers of the council's last effort for city status.
I imagine that the majority of residents would prefer the council to turn their attention and finances to more pressing problems.
