ONE extremely important point has been missed regarding Mr Ian Finch and his coffee shop on King William Street, Blackburn (LET, August 30).
The property occupied by his shop was previously occupied for many years by Roy Marlor's gents outfitters.
When it was vacated, it was split into two units -- Puccino's coffee shop and Adecco employment agency. If the council wishes retail shops to remain on King William Street, then why have both businesses not been treated equally?
The public feel that Mr Finch has been treated extremely badly. He is providing a quality business in a town desperate for his type of trade.
The coffee shop is an excellent business. The council should be supporting individuals prepared to invest their own money in the town.
The planning committee should reverse their decision without Mr Finch going to appeal.
They will regain more credibility by this action than their current position that is opposite to the opinion of the public who elect them.
