OFFICERS in Manchester are issuing a warning to East Lancashire residents who may have bought bottles of Valkonov Vodka after a 33 year old woman suffered methanol poisoning.
The woman, from Gorton, Manchester was admitted to Manchester Royal Infirmary after suffering with severe abdominal pain. She is currently seriously ill but stable in the intensive care unit.
Now officers are concerned the drink may have been sold in Lancashire.
Detectives say the symptoms of methanol poisoning can be delayed for several hours, so anyone who may have drunk this type of vodka may not be immediately aware of its dangers.
Symptoms include severe abdominal pain, drowsiness and dizziness.
A spokesman said they believed the drink may be on sale at other outlets in the North West.
Anyone with information should contact Longsight CID on 0161 856 4262.
