PADIHAM recorded their eighth NWCL second division win of the season to stay top of the league and earn manager Graham Howarth the manager of the month award for September.
Martyn Thompson gave the Storks the lead in the 12th minute when he raced on to a long clearance from keeper Kirk Marsden and angled a powerful shot past Dave Raynor to make it 1-0.
Three minutes into the second half Ian Pilkington increased Padiham's lead with a well-placed header from a Robbie Smith free kick.
Cheadle Town reduced Padiham's lead 15 minutes from time through Phil Morgardo who volleyed in a right wing cross from close range setting up a hectic finish in which Padiham had goalkeeper Kirk Marsden to thank for safeguarding their unbeaten start to the season.
