BLACKBURN ROVERS Under 19s and Under 17s teams suffered their first defeats of the season at the weekend.
Academy coach Ian Miller said it was 'a bad a day at the office' for his Under 17s, who lost 2-0 at Sunderland.
The Under 19s were also on the receiving end of a defeat, losing 4-0 at Manchester United.
The results mean both sides, who topped their respective divisions last week, have dropped to second in their tables.
Miller said: "The Under 17s were disappointing, we were second best throughout and got what we deserved - nothing.
"They've done ever so well this season and we have been very pleased with them but Saturday was just a bad day at the office.
"It was a similar story with the Under 19s as well I think.
"Rob (Kelly) was disappointed because on the day United were the better side, although 4-0 probably flattered them.
"Sometimes young players have games like that, you put it down to experience."
Both sides play Sheffield Wednesday at Brockhall this Saturday and Miller said it was important for them to bounce back.
"It's a confidence thing for the players," he said. "Winning becomes a habit and you don't want to get into the habit of losing."
