DAMIEN Duff made a triumphant return from injury to inspire Rovers to their third win of the season at West Brom last night.
Duff played his first game in three weeks after recovering from a torn thigh muscle sustained during an international fixture in Russia.
And he warmed up for Thursday night's UEFA Cup clash in Bulgaria with a goal and an 'assist' to bring about Albion's downfall as Rovers soared up to eighth in the table.
"I feel grand but a little bit tired," said the young Irishman.
"I played the full 90 minutes after my injury and you never know whether that was the gaffer's plan, he could have taken me off at any time.
"But the most important thing was to get back playing and help the side win three points."
Duff set Rovers on course for victory when referee Mike Halsey pointed to the spot after he was brought down by Ronnie Wallwork midway through the second half.
TV replays later showed the offence occurred outside the area but Duff was in no doubt there was contact and he then completed an excellent night by adding the second himself.
"For the penalty, he definitely caught me and then I was over the moon to open my account for the season after that.
"The Hawthorns is going to be a tough place for any team to come and win so it was a great result."
Now Duff and the rest of the squad must focus on Thursday's UEFA Cup first round second leg against CSKA Sofia which is delicately poised at 1-1 after the first game at Ewood.
"I suppose it will be quite hard playing again in two days but I am only a young lad and I want to be involved on big European nights," added Duff.
"Now we just want to go out there and try and get another result."
