A RAMBLER died after collapsing while walking on Pendle Hill last week, despite a massive operation by emergency rescue services.
The Mountain Rescue team, Lancashire Air Ambulance and the Ambulance Service were called to the hills above Sabden last Friday at 1pm.
Despite their best efforts, they failed to save the 55-year-old man, who has not been named.
A spokesman for the Air Ambulance Service said: "When we arrived at the scene, the people there obviously knew there was a problem.
"We helped to get him off the hill and into a vehicle. He was then transferred to hospital."
The man was taken to Burnley General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
